Les Hauts comes from the part of the Croix de Labrie estate nearest Libourne, where the soils are lighter, gravelly sands and the vines younger. That combination gives a more ethereal style of Saint-Émilion than the estate's flagship.
It is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, with red fruit and spice, touches of hazelnut and chocolate, a medium-to-full body and ripe, polished tannins. It is delightful young and will go on for a decade or more.
